I’ve been doing a lot of work with staged abstract photography lately. There’s something about the combination of unusual light sources, text, and the staged photo process that I really enjoy, and I know I’m not alone in this. Shooting in low light has its challenges, but the rewards include a lot of moody, noir-ish images that I love to make.

These are some test prints of some of my recent sessions. I’m not pleased at how the reds in the last image get distorted in the smaller .jpg sizes, but that’s the risk you take working with red light and posting that work online.

It’s not always easy to just grab those redder/pinker images and toss them up online-more work in post is required and I was looking for some instant gratification here, hence that smeary quality the last image has in lo-rez format.
